Grants

Through funding from Determination of Need (DON) monies from Boston based hospitals and other health institutions, the Alliance has provided health related mini-grants which are available to the 11 neighborhood groups. Mini-grants have helped support a wide variety of projects that range from a very specific health focus (e.g. nutrition, housing, lead poising, osteoporosis prevention, breast and cervical cancer prevention, violence prevention, etc.) to broader processes that support a healthy communities approach (e.g. a strategic planning process to become more inclusive of community residents in JP, creation of an asset assessment for youth development in South Boston, a community mapping project in the South End, etc.) Over the past several years, neighborhoods have demonstrated the ability to create health projects that have enhanced health promotion and community education on many levels. These health initiatives are based on identified outcomes and evaluation tools are used to determine successes and needed improvements. Neighborhood Alliance groups delineate ways in which they will evaluate the projects funded by mini-grants.

*Please note:

The grants are not open to the public and are only available to Boston Alliance Neighborhood Coalitions.
